So as a Landlord/Property owner this new TPO Ordinance will give the City of Chula Vista authority over a property I worked all my life to aquire and maintain.....never. I will fight this Ordinance with all I have. There are currently laws in place to maintain and protect both Landlords and tenants. Due to current Covid condtions rent freezes and inability to evict no paying tenants have crippled many Landlords/Owners and yet most have worked through this. Our current City Council, especially Mary Salas and Jill Galvez have no authority to make us Criminals based on their own perceptions of what tenants rights are under current conditions. This TPO Ordinance deserves more attention, Landlords need to understand how this Ordinance can criminalize them for just protecting their own property.
